Johnsons Swede Helenor Seeds
Large globe-shaped, deeply coloured roots of outstanding quality texture and taste with dark purple skin and sweet, yellow flesh. Very winter hardy with resistance to mildew. Seedlings appear within 7-14 days of planting. An early and late sowing will give a longer harvest. Leave in ground until required or lift and store in a cool, frost free place and cover with straw or dry sand. Root vegetables boast a host of colours and flavours and include carrots, radish, horseradish, sweet potato, turnip and beetroot. Their low rate of metabolism allows for a relatively long postharvest life. Thanks to their high water content, they are key ingredients for a low fat diet. This wholefood is well suited for all cooking options: grilling, mashing, roasting, frying and even in soups. Don’t skimp on sunshine when growing them!
